I wanted to check some old miniDV I had at home for almost 20 years.I had hoped the motor noise of the ZR800 would be at a similar level, but unfortunately it is significantly worse.Sometime in the next couple of weeks I’ll get around to that, but for now, WOW!Couple of friends suggested the new UltraFlip digital recorder, but I wanted more features than it provided.Interestingly going up a model, to the 820 will lose you the mic input. It is amazing me how far technology has come since this camcorder was new.I’m not sure if it is lighting issues or if the camera had been dropped….And with a great price, it’s surprising that Canon even included an external microphone input .I love the great picture, especially the wide angle.I bought the Canon because it has facilities for an external mike.Had to return. It’s been a while since my “Super 8” movie film camera was pressed into service.I’m also very pleased with the quality of the picture and the sound.Kids loves the product.Good packaging.Definitely used and wasn’t that good to record. Read heads on ths camera are worn.I heeded the earlier reviews about the audio quality and bought an external mic – Very glad I did.It is not at all like some reviews said.

The seller gave an accurate description of the camcorder condition. I have read all the product reviews prior to buying this camera. It will shoot video but it will not play back. Canon ZR800 MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical ZoomThe camera is easy to use. These can cost thousands of dollars. Please read the description well before purchasing, if you need more functions look for other model of Canon. The only thing missing was the Velcro on the side for attaching the audio receiver, but rubber bands work just as well.I was pretty skeptical about buying this video camera after reading the reviews about the motor noise and somewhat cheap product. Received faster than expected date.00 – $200. I am happy with this cam because of it’s ease of use and the additional features.Let’s get to the point.

With that in mind, the device DOES make noise while recording and while playing/FF/RR- these sounds are not anything but normal camera noises, esp for one as small as this. The video is quite saturated and sharp with the legendary Canon optics. The sound is terrible.Well, I read a couple reviews afterword where people complained about motor noise.Combine this jack with a Rode Videomic and an L-bracket and you have a great little outfit that can get a lot of work done.If you’re not satisfied with it, you can add your own external microphone. The color reproduction on this camera is the best I’ve ever used or seen.I have transferred them to the PC via a ieee card I bought, but I have not edited them, so I can not speak about the software the camera came with.It is very easy to use, the piture quality is great. There are just a few cons:The built in speaker rattles obnoxiously. After much study and evaluation, I chose the Canon ZR800 based on a salesman’s recommendation, frustration as to the number of choices which are available, and the presence of an external microphone jack .Very nice, very impressive. It isn’t unbearable, but it is noticeable. The ZR800 seemed like a good choice. It is probably the best camera you can get for the money. The booklet says “If you wish to connect to your computer, you will need a commercially available IEEE394 cable”.I spent a good week of researching camcorders to decide which would be best for me.She saved up all summer for it and we researched it out as being a good buy.Although it is missing some features I could use, I can easily live without them.00 per unit they perform wonderfully and withstand the kind of abuse that kids can deliver.
