Under good lighting conditions the camera performs extremely good if setup correctly. As a relatively early adopter, I took this camera to Yellowstone, hoping to get some stunning 4k footage. The 1" sensor is a massive improvement over the 1/2" sensors that the sub-$1000 camcorders have, making it superior in low light. However after about 3 months it died, and had black screen. The size though is much smaller then any other serious 4k camera, so don’t mark it as a ding.I have had many cameras over the years and this is my new favorite. The Cowboy Church likes that environment so I Bought the FDR-AX100 Even though the ratings were a little gloomy; and, I was going to use the PJ430 for extra shots… Found it was not a good Idea to put these two together in same video.Rolling shutter is bad.8, as zooming in it changes automatically up to a minimum f4 and beyond depending on settingsWas able to set manually and separately exposure, shutter speed, gain audio levels for 2 channels – it has meters for 5 but didn’t try that mode yet Installed play memories software on pc, only works with vista or newer, not working with xp and older, xp would not recognize camera or sdxc card, not even with proper usb2 card reader that otherwise works fine with windows 8.My previous camcorder was a Canon Vixia RF300 and that camera had awful inside video quality, but looked great when used outside in sun light.I had previously used the AX53, but this surpasses the AX53 in every way except stabilization, which, given my shooting style isn’t crucial to me.Other than that , its a perfect camera for a novice Even though this is an expensive piece of equipment, I am very impressed by it.Everything still in original packaging..I love this camera.I just got it, so I will probably get more specific with my review after I have spent more time using it.Otherwise, choose the AX33 because it delivers 85%-95% of the image quality that this has to offer.I love the manual features, it makes adjusting for lighting in music videos a snap.
I am able to monitor/control 3 cameras at once using my ipads. Not a big deal for me though.Love the lens designed by Zeiss for Sony.I showed a client footage from this, and they were very impressed.I strongly believe that Sony could have charged double, but brought this camera to market for the purpose of putting more 4K content within the reach of consumers, with the ultimate goal of selling an even greater amount of 4K LED televisions. The camera also does a great job down sampling to 1080 in camera with very little artifact .These are not pros/cons necessarily, but very important notes on the differences between the 2, and whether or not your type of camera usage allows the Sony to fit the bill:– 4K Quality @ 30fps – This is the biggest bonus on this camera, and the 4K quality is indeed stunning in most settings.Easy to use too.It exceeded my expectations. That simple but then it has a lot of advance settings as well.As promised.Color and dynamism of the shot is excellent. The video quality is nothing short of amazing.the there is no internally built-in flash in the picture and the video modes.Sony rep couldn’t tell me how to invoke continuous numbering so that count would progress through the entire four-digit numbering sequence before returning to 1.Will update the review later, and even compare it to a 4K PXW-Z100 and the venerable HD NX5u.The main problem I have with this is it does not do well changing between still shots and video.I recommend.
Get a very fast machine to edit this as the files are large by home standards.…if you own a Mac and you use Final Cut Pro, you are golden! The 4K videos are .I avoid *any* onboard audio for any video equipment when possible. He told me it had not been registered, but other than that, it is what I wanted and works fine.Bigger and pricey compared to other camcorders, but for the the resolution it is worth the money..If it did this I would’ve given it 5 stars. This is the best camcorder I’ve ever owned. The product was exactly as they said it was.Add it to your arsenal of tools. This camera has many appealing features including the zoom/focus ring on the lens, EVF that tilts up,wi fi file transfer, convenient buttons including ND filter, and large sensor allowing for shallow depth of field. excellent seller No complaints ORIGINAL REVIEW Imports Perfectly in Final Cut Pro….
